Most duvets never get washed because they do not fit the machine and take a day to dry. We collect them, wash them in commercial machines built for the size, dry them until the filling is properly lofted, and bring them back within 3 working days. Pick what needs cleaning to see your price.
Why duvets are hard to clean at home
A king-size duvet needs space to move in the drum. Squeezed into a domestic 8 or 9 kg machine, the middle stays dry, the detergent does not rinse out, and the filling bunches. Feather and down are worse: they hold water, and if they are not dried right through they smell and clump within days.
Launderettes solve the drum size but not the drying. Feather duvets can need two to three hours in a dryer on a low heat, and most people give up after one cycle. The duvet feels dry on the outside and stays damp in the middle.
We use commercial washer-extractors with a big enough drum for the duvet to turn over, and we dry on a low temperature with dryer balls until the filling is dry all the way through and has lofted back up. That last part is the one that matters.
Which duvets we clean
Synthetic and microfibre duvets, all togs. These wash at a higher temperature, which is what kills dust mites.
Feather and down, including goose and duck down. Washed on a gentle down-safe programme with a specialist detergent that does not strip the natural oils.
Wool duvets. Washed cold on a wool programme and dried flat or on very low heat. Some wool duvets are labelled dry clean only: we check the label and tell you before we wash.
Silk-filled duvets are dry clean only in almost every case. We do not wash them, and we will say so rather than risk it.

Questions
Good to know
How often should a duvet be cleaned?
Every six to twelve months for most people, and more often if anyone has allergies or you have pets on the bed. Pillows need it more often than duvets.
How long does duvet cleaning take?
We return duvets within 3 working days of collection. Feather and down need the longest drying, which is why we do not offer same-day duvet cleaning.
Will my feather duvet lose its loft?
Not if it is dried properly. Loss of loft usually comes from drying too hot or not drying fully, which leaves clumps. We dry on a low heat until the filling is fully dry and has recovered.
Can you remove stains from a duvet?
We pre-treat marks before washing and most everyday stains come out. Old or set-in stains, especially on the cover fabric of a feather duvet, may fade rather than disappear. We will tell you if something has not shifted.
